This small washer with its elegant form and lustrous glaze is rare and only few examples are known. Like many Longquan pieces, comparable examples can be found in Japanese museum collections. See, for instance, a Longquan celadon washer of similar form in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum, published in Illustrated Catalogues of Tokyo National Museum: Chinese Ceramics I, Tokyo, 1988, p.126, no.502, and a second washer in the collection of the Kanezawa Nakamura Memorial Museum, published Sekai tōji zenshū, vol.12, Song Dynasty, Tokyo, 1977, col.pl.78. More recently, two examples were sold at auction, the first sold in Christie's New York, 23 March 2023, lot 886, the second in Bonhams Hong Kong, 23 November 2023, lot 114.
