A RARE DOUCAI 'DRAGON' BOWL AND COVER
Yongzheng six-character mark and of the period
The bowl of conical form with widely flared sides rising from a short foot, boldly painted around the exterior with a green and yellow dragon leaping from cresting waves in pursuit of flaming pearls and amid multi-coloured clouds, the domed cover with six small indentations to the rim, similarly decorated with a green and a yellow dragon, a band of cresting waves around the rim of the cover and the foot of the bowl, a six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle to the base.
The bowl: 20.2cm (8in) diam., the cover: 20.7cm (8 1/8in) diam. (2).
