Inscriptions: to one side, in the long inscription down the blade, Turkish verses about the sword; in the oblong cartouche, tawakkaltu 'ala allah, 'I put my trust in God'; in the trefoil device, sene 1227, 'Year 1227 (1812-13)'; to the other side, in the teardrop cartouche, sahib dervish ahmed efendi, 'The owner is Dervish Ahmed Efendi'; in the five-pointed star, ya allah, 'O God!'; to the base of the blade, ma sha'a allah, 'Whatsoever God wills'.
