The colophon reads: katabahu al-'abd al-dhalil sayyid ahmad al-hilmi min talamidh al-sayyid muhammad al-khulusi afandi, 'The abject servant [of God] Sayyid Ahmad al-Hilmi [Seyyid Ahmed Hilmi], from among the pupils Muhammad al-Khulusi Afandi [Seyyid Mehmed Hulusi Efendi] wrote it.'
Though there are several calligraphers with the name Seyyid Ahmed Hilmi, though none of these are recorded as being the pupil of the famous teacher Seyyid Mehmed Hulusi Efendi (d. AH 1291/AD 1874).
