Footnotes

Provenance
Property from a private collection, Pakistan.

Untitled (Village Scene) showcases a family as they go about their daily chores. The painting captures a seemingly ordinary moment, with the fishermen having caught their catch for the day, and the mother resting with her young child having fetched water for the day. Depicted in Sultan's quintessential style, with their exaggerated muscled bodies, Sultan captures the spirit of toil, resilience, and harmony that illustrates why Sultan is one of the greatest Bangladeshi painters of rural realism.
