At the heart of Untitled (Woman) lies Roy's deep reverence for Bengal's rich artistic heritage. Inspired by the folk art traditions of his native Bengal, particularly the Kalighat painting style, Roy sought to reclaim and celebrate indigenous artistic techniques that had been marginalized by colonial influences. In Untitled (Woman) Roy employs bold lines and a flattened perspective reminiscent of Kalighat paintings, imbuing the work with a sense of vitality and dynamism.
