TWO OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLES

White-overlay bottle: 1760-1800; Red-overlay bottle: 1770-1820
The first, an opaque white-overlay blue glass bottle deeply and well carved with a coiling chilong to each main face and divided on the narrow sides by curly-maned lion-mask mock handles, a simple concave base with a flat oval foot ring; the second, a red-overlay snowflake glass bottle carved continuously around the body with an unusual scene, on one side a dismounted warrior resting on a rocky promontory with the lance leaning against a pine tree and the horse tethered to another pine tree, on the other side two Daoist figures on a boat approaching a headland and a third figure awaiting them, the narrow sides well-carved with vertical rockwork joining the two scenes.

2 5/8in (6.6 cm); 2 3/8in (5.9cm) high (2).
