Persia, 17th century

of spherical form on a short splayed foot with slightly flaring neck, decorated in cobalt blue and black on white ground with panels of floral and foliate motifs to the body, four scalloped cartouches containing inscriptions to the shoulder, floral and foliate motifs to the neck, a lozenge motif containing concentric circles at each corner to the base

Inscriptions in Persian: Az badeh rokh hamcho gol afrukhteh, Vaz atash-e 'eshq jan-e man sukhteh, '(My) face is flushed from wine, like a rose, And my soul is burnt from the fire of love.'
