An engraved silver anklet of this form is illustrated in Thomas Holbein Hendley, Indian Jewellery, London: Extracted from the Journal of Indian Art, 1909, pl. 72, fig. 457. Hendley describes the anklet in his book as a kara and attributes it to Karachi, though the enamel colours in the present lot are more in line with those used in Rajasthan. For a hinged blue and green enamelled anklet of similar form with a central protruding flowerhead attributed to 20th century Multan, see the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (IS.120-2009).
