Persia, 12th Century

of teardrop form with raised central boss, the mould area to interior of circular form with three channels joining at the rim, a band of inscription to flattened top of boss, the sides of the boss with repeating vertical lines, a further band of inscription interspersed by roundels containing rosettes encircling the central boss, two holes drilled to edge

Inscriptions: al-sa'adah [wa] al-sala/ mah wa a[l]-iqbal wa al-ijlal /al-siyadah al-qa'imah, 'Happiness [and] well-being and prosperity and honouring and rising dominion'; to the band in the middle, 'amal-i darvesh ibn nur (?) bin hujjat aqa, 'The work of Darvesh (Darvish) ibn Nur (?) bin Hujjat Aqa.'
