A Fatimid bronze ewer
Egypt, 9th/ 10th Century

on three slightly waisted feet with wide cylindrical body and sloping shoulder, long straight spout to one side, the tall flaring neck with flattened everted rim with palmettes flanking a simple handle surmounted by a baluster-shaped knop thumb-piece, the rim and body below the handle decorated with stamped dots in vegetal designs, the handle with inscription in kufic
