An early Islamic bronze ewer
Persia, 8th/ 9th Century

of globular form on three feet with waisted fluted neck leading to a raised band and further flaring element, the everted rim lobed with split palmettes, the handle with six moulded ridges and surmounted by a pomegranate thumb-piece, the s-curved spout with mouth in the form of a flowerhead, engraved and decorated with geometric designs to neck and spout
