A late 19th century ebonised quarter chiming table clock

The arched case with four cast brass pineapple finials, above the cast brass side frets and Corinthian columns to the front, flanking the glazed front door, on a deep moulded base with cast ogee feet. The 6.75 inch arched brass dial with scroll and floral spandrels framing the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Chas. Frodsham 84 Strand under XII and London No 1923 above VI, the matted centre under pierced blued steel hands, with two large, silvered subsidiary dials in the arch for regulation, and Chime on Eight Bells/ Chime on Four Bells/ Chime on Four Gongs. The substantial triple chain fusee signed movement with anchor escapement, striking the hours on a large gong, and the quarters on either 4 gongs, 4 bells or 8 bells (both gong stands stamped J.&F. D.). Together with a crank winder, another winding key and two door keys. 51cms (20ins) high
