A late 18th century brass mounted mahogany bell top table clock

The case surmounted by a moulded brass handle with floral Caryatids to the front and brass fish-scale frets to the sides, the moulded base supported on small brass ogee feet. The silvered Roman and Arabic dial with strike/silent subsidiary over a central signature Robt Wood, London and the subsidiary calendar dial, with pierced blued steel hands. The twin gut (now wire) fusee movement with knife edge verge escapement and rack striking on a bell, the backplate with geometric border framing an exotic bird within foliate engraving. Ticking and striking. 55cms (21.5ins) high
