A late 17th century walnut veneered table Clock

Joseph Knibb, Londini Fecit
The shallow caddy top surmounted by a tied bud handle over rectangular side apertures and a moulded plinth on (later) brass bun feet. The 7.25 inch square brass dial signed along the lower edge Ioseph Knibb Londini Fecit and set with winged cherub spandrels to frame the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring and finely matted centre with date aperture and blued steel hands. The twin gut fusee movement with re-converted verge escapement (the knife-edge held in a small shaped cock with sliding cover), the striking train with outside numbered countwheel mounted on the engraved backplate decorated with a pattern of symmetrical tulips and foliage within a single line border, signed in a reserve Joseph Knibb, Londini Fecit. Ticking and striking. Together with a case key, the previous crown wheel and a Knibb style winding key.
