A late 19th/early 20th century French gilt brass pendule d'officier timepiece of small size

Paris, No. 40804
The case surmounted by an elliptical cast brass ouroboros on a concave top with floral mounts, the sides and front with floral mounts, supported on four cast brass lion paw feet. The 2.5 inch white Roman and Arabic enamel dial signed under skeletonised geometric brass hands. The single spring barrel movement with silvered, jewelled Swiss lever platform escapement and cut and compensated bi-metallic balance, the backplate stamped 40804. Ticking with a winding key. 14.5cms (5.5ins) high
