A good late 19th century French lacquered and silvered brass carriage clock in an Anglaise style case

Surmounted by a ribbed Greek-key handle over an escapement observation panel and a ripple-moulded cornice supported by Corinthian-style columns between bevelled glass sides on a raised plinth base. The circular enamel dial with blue Roman numerals in shaped white cartouches on a cream ground, with blue and gilt highlights and trefoil shaped hands, all framed within an engraved silvered mask decorated with floral swags and scrolls on a hatched ground. The silvered lever platform escapement with bimetallic balance striking and repeating the hours on a blued steel coiled gong. Ticking, striking and repeating. 20.5cms (8ins) high
