A mid-19th century brass-bound mahogany single pad top clock

The case surmounted by a brass bound pad above the moulded arch with cast brass leaf handles and fabric backed brass fish scale frets to either side, the glazed back door and brass bound front door with ivory escutcheon, all supported on a concave moulded base, with stylised brass ogee feet. The silvered dial with engraved floral spandrels framing the Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the centre signed John Leumas London under the skeletonised blued steel hands, an engraved 'strike/silent' dial under the arch, surrounded by floral engraving. The twin gut (now wire) fusee movement with four knopped pillars and anchor escapement, the backplate with engraved curtain border, and large, hollow pendulum. Ticking and striking with mahogany handled crank key.
