Originally designed by Gérald Genta in 1976, the Nautilus was marketed as a luxury stainless steel watch that represented the ultimate status symbol. While it was originally considered ludicrous for anyone to pay for such a steep price for a non-precious metal timepiece, over time the watch grew to become highly desired by collectors, and alongside the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (also designed by Genta) is credited for the rise in sports watches, particularly the integrated bracelet variety. This fervor for the watch reached fever pitch when the watch was discontinued by Patek Philippe in 2021, and it consistently ranks as one of the most iconic watches ever produced. The present lot dates to 2008, and as such includes a Geneva seal on the movement, which makes it an even more coveted example. With a full set and in excellent condition, this represents a great opportunity for anyone looking to add Patek's most coveted modern timepiece to their collections.
