George III Inlaid and Ebonized Wood Console Table,
England, late 18th century.
Demi-lune top with veneered border is intricately inlaid with fluted patera framed by symmetrical scrolled foliate vines, over conforming apron with three inlaid panels centering a draped rosette on a dark ground, divided by patera-inlaid blocks above the four tapered legs, which have inlaid stringing, bellflowers, and applied cuffs, 109cm wide, 38cm deep, 83cm high (43 1/2in wide, 15 5/8in deep, 33 1/2in high).
