Dame Zaha Hadid was one of the most dynamic and innovative architects of the twenty-first century. In 2004 she was first woman to be awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize which is perceived as an equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Architecture. The following year, Hadid designed the seminal 'Aqua' table, this remarkable design can be considered the progenitor of the present 'Luna' table with its 2007 edition solely executed from a singular block of Carrara marble.

The present monolithic 'Luna' table distinguishes itself further from the 'Aqua' with its continuous undulating forms, majestically defining its sculptural composition. Polished white Carrara marble surfaces glide along the varying configurations, simultaneously suggesting an increase and decrease in scale, an expanding and expounding space. Engendering an oneiric state where surface can exist contiguously within its diminishing and amplified forms. Although, a singular solid sculpture, it conveys a trichotomy defined by an undulating base, a symmetrically fluid tabletop, and submersed bays, presenting like dunes the formation of which changes from every angle.

From Michelangelo to Henry Moore, artists have used Carrara marble which is considered one of most divine of materials. Founded in 1990 and based in Verona, the present 'Luna' table was executed by the company CITCO who has collaborated with many prestigious architects. CITCO continued the execution of works in white Carrara marble, where their impeccably skilled artistic craftsmen sculpt architectural designs from sublime pieces of stone. The 'Luna' table has been part of international exhibitions including the 2014, Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan, and can be considered one of Hadid's most exceptional and impressive pieces of design. Hadid's imagination continues to fascinate, impress, and influence contemporary architecture. Embedded within this work are many of Hadid's flawless architectural characteristics, including her faultless attention to detail and the ability to design complex monolithic forms.
