JUGENDSTIL ILLUSTRATION.

LEFLER, HEINRICH. 1863-1919; and JOSEF URBAN, illustrator. 1872-1933. Die Bücher der Chronika der drei Schwestern. Berlin: J.A. Stargardt, 1900.
Square folio. Text by Johann Musaeus, in German. Illustrated lithographic title page and numerous lithographic illustrations and vignettes in text, some in color. Publisher's blue cloth stamped in black, blue, red and gilt. Slight losses to spine ends, internally fresh.

A Jugendstil masterpiece, printed in an unknown, but limited edition for the Paris World Exposition in 1900. The illustrations were prepared by Lefler, the decorative borders by Urban, and the overall book design by Paul Voigt. A glorious piece of Jugendstil design by its major illustrators.
