CHURCHILL'S VOYAGES.

A Collection of Voyages and Travels, some now first printed from Original Manuscripts. London: Awnsham and John Churchill, 1704; and John Walthoe, for Churchill, 1732.
6 volumes. Folio (317 x 200 mm). 2 additional engraved titles, 2 portraits, 162 engraved plates, maps and plans (some double-page or folding), numerous engraved illustrations and maps in the text, some full-page. FIRST EDITION OF CHURCHILL'S MONUMENTAL TRAVELS, complete with the original 4 volumes published in 1704 and 2 volumes published in 1732. Compiled by Awnsham and John Churchill: "this is a very valuable collection, both for its range of coverage and for the fact that it gives the original accounts ... the third edition is considered to be best because of its greater inclusiveness and its copious index" (Hill 295). Two further volumes were issued separately in 1745, compiled by Thomas Osborne. Sabin 13015.
