possibly Umayyad Syria or Palestine, 8th Century

of piriform on a short foot with long waisted neck and flattened rim, decorated to the body with a series of four seated figures
14 cm. high

Footnotes

The figures on the present lot can be compared with those on an incense burner in the David Collection attributed to 8th Century Syria or Palestine, and another in the British Museum (Museum number 1872,1202.1). The censers both depict Christian scenes from the New Testament.
