Two leaves from a manuscript of Persian poetry
Persia, late 16th/early 17th Century

framed back to back, Persian manuscript on gold-sprinkled paper, eight lines recto and verso written in elegant nasta'liq script in black ink, interlinear rules in blue and gold, inner margins ruled in colours and gold, outer borders (recto) profusely decorated with floral motifs in gold on a cream ground with coloured cartouches, outer borders (verso) with light pink and blue areas outlined in gold against a gold-decorated cream ground
255 x 160 mm.

These leaves are from the same manuscript as lots 10 and 11. It has not been possible to identify the text exactly but it relates to the unity of God, the Prophet Muhammad and reciting chapters from the Qur'an, in prose and verse.
