Two illuminated pages from a manuscript of Persian poetry
Persia, late 16th/early 17th Century

Persian manuscript on gold-sprinkled paper, two conjoined leaves, each (recto and verso) with eight lines of text written in nasta'liq script in black ink, inner margins ruled in colours and gold, outer borders with gold foliate motifs on a cream and green ground respectively with cartouches in pink, blue and dull yellow, one leaf verso with illuminated rectangular panel
each leaf 258 x 168 mm.; double page 258 x 340 mm.

The text panels could derive from the same manuscript as lot 10, though if they are they have been laid down on distinctly different borders. The leaves are apparently not consecutive.
