A mid-19th Century French silver-plated carriage clock

Dimier No. 248, Paris
Surmounted by a reeded handle above a large bevelled glass escapement observation window and ribbed columns to a stepped base on button feet, the solid rear door with shuttered dust cover to reveal the setting and winding squares. The white enamel Roman dial signed Dimier A Paris below VI, with moon hands framed by a straight-grained brass mask. The twin spring barrel movement with jewelled Swiss lever escapement striking on a bell, the backplate punched Dimier A Paris along the bottom and 248 W below the bell. Ticking, striking, and repeating. 19cms (7ins) high
