A POWDER-BLUE GLAZED BRUSHPOT, BITONG

Kangxi
The cylindrical vessel slightly tapering, the exterior covered in a lustrous powder blue-glaze, the interior glazed white, the base with small recessed button glazed white. 16cm (6 1/4in) high.

The present lot is unique in that it has no gilt-decoration usually applied to powder-blue vessels. See for example, a powder-blue glazed brushpot with gilt decorated landscape, Kangxi, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Small Refined Articles of the Study, Shanghai, 2009, p.92, no.62.
