TANGKA REPRÉSENTANT LES NEUF FRÈRES DRALA - PROTECTEURS DU MONDE

Mongolie, XIXe siècle

A THANGKA OF THE NINE DRALA BROTHERS - WORLDLY PROTECTORS
Mongolia, 19th century
Facing frontally and regal in appearance, with a moustache and goatee, the right arm is raised holding a riding crop and the left holds a lasso at the heart. Dressed in the garb of a warrior with a helmet and armour, a sword, bow and quiver of arrows hang at the waist. Seated atop a white horse, his head is ringed with a dark green areola. Eight identical attendant figures accompany Dralha and the lower register with wolves, wild dogs, horses, leopards and tigers surrounding the armour and weapons of the Drahla Brothers. Laid down on Japanese paper - reference labels 492 and 667. Image: 78cm (30 3/4in) x 56cm (22in).
