A RARE PAIR OF GREY JADE 'DRAGON' PENDANTS
Warring States Period/Han Dynasty (475 BC-220 AD)
Each serpentine pendant carved flat in the form of a stylised dragon with curving sinuous body issuing short limbs, the head facing forwards with a prominent snout, incised to each side with a dense design of tight scrolls, the stone of pale grey hue with darker grey inclusions, a small drilled aperture to the lower body. 15.5cm (6 1/8in) long. A related jade dragon-shaped pendant, Warring States period, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Jadeware (I), Hong Kong, 1995, no.151. A related pair of jade 'dragon' pendants, Warring states/Han dynasty, was sold at Sotheby's London, 18 May 2018, lot 497.
