TWO PAINTED POTTERY FIGURES OF OFFICIALS
Wei Dynasty (386-550 AD)
Comprising two male officials modelled standing with slender bodies clad in long layered robes and official hats, the hands clasped within the wide and loose sleeves. The largest 25cm (9 7/8in) high. (2).

The slender bodies, facial features and outfits worn by the present figures closely compare with three painted pottery figures of tribute bearers, Wei dynasty, from the Robert Rousset colllection, in the Musée Guimet, Paris, illustrated by J-P.Desroches, Compagnons d'Eternite', Paris, 1981, pp.136-137. See also a similar pair of pottery figures, Wei dynasty, from the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, illustrated in Homage to Heaven, Homage to Earth, Chinese Treasures of the Royal Ontario Museum, Hong Kong, 1992, pl.73.
