A GOLD-LACQUER FOUR-CASE INRO
Japan, Kajikawa Lineage, Edo Period (1615-1868), mid-late 19th century
Of lenticular form, the kinji ground decorated with an all-over design of '1000 cranes', the top, bottom and both sides lacquered in gold, red and black takamaki-e with flocks of red-crested cranes, flying in different directions, their wings overlapping, the interior of rich gyobu-nashiji; signed on the base of the bottom case Kajikawa saku. 8.3cm (3 1/4in) x 5.8cm (2 3/8in).
