A Meissen waste bowl, circa 1725

Each side painted with a Chinoiserie scene in a gilt Baroque cartouche filled with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red scrollwork, the sides with indianische Blumen, the inside with a further Chinoiserie scene, gilt scrollwork border inside rim, 8.5cm high, crossed swords mark, 3. and three dots in gilding

The standing figure and the kneeling figure in the stocks is after an engraving based on figures on a map by Romeyn de Hooghe published in 1668 (C. Bodinek, Raffinesse im Akkord, vol. II (2018), ill. 124).
