A set of twenty-nine Nymphenburg plates, circa 1765

Each with a gilt-edged, moulded rim, painted with a flower bouquet (the 'Nymphenburg bouquet') in the centre and scattered blooms and flowers around the rim; together with a Nymphenburg soup plate, circa 1757, painted probably by Andreas Oettner with a flower spray ('Viennese style') in the centre and scattered flowers around the puce-edged rim; and a Nymphenburg square dish, circa 1765, painted with a flower spray in the centre and further scattered flowers within a gilt scrollwork and blue line border around the rim, the plates: 25.5cm diam.; the soup plate: 26cm diam.; the square dish: 24cm across, impressed shield marks, numerals and letters. three plates and the square dish with hexagram mark in underglaze-blue (some wear to gilt rims, a few chips to footrims, one corner of square dish restuck) (31)

The soup plate with purple-edged rim belongs to a service decorated with flowers in the botanical style of the Du Paquier (Vienna) manufactory in the 1730s, the decoration of which has been attributed to Andreas Oettner (A. Ziffer, Nymphenburger Porzellan Sammlung Bäuml (1997), nos. 269-272. Other pieces from the service with the gilt scrollwork and blue line borders to the rim are illustrated by Ziffer, op. cit., nos. 369-372.
