AN ARCHAISTIC BLUE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
Of slightly flattened baluster form, supported on a short oval foot rim, the exterior with archaistic design of taotie masks between rope-twist bands, upright lappets around the foot, scrolling acanthus leaves around the shoulder surmounted by a cylindrical neck and flat lip, stopper, box. 7.4cm (2 7/8in) high. 鼻烟壺扁壺形,直頸,廣口,薄頸壁,橢圓形圈足,壺身呈圓角長方形,中央刻正向饕餮紋,上下蓮瓣及如意紋裝飾,底陰刻「乾隆年製」篆書款,帶粉紅色碧璽鑲珠蓋。
可參考一件約十八世紀晚期寶石藍玻璃獸面紋鼻烟壺,見《沐文堂收藏全集,卷十九:玻璃煙壺》,香港,2009年,頁141。另可比較紐約大都會博物館藏一件十八世紀晚期類似鼻煙壺,展覽於紐約大都會博物館,「Small Delights: Chinese Snuff Bottles」,紐約,2013年7月9日至2014年6月15日,館藏編號1971.117.3a,b。
