Footnotes
In 1983 while making the Kiku Portfolio published by the Gendai Hanga Center in Tokyo, Warhol experimented with different colors, creating several unique versions that were never published. This luminous gold version is quite different from the regular edition of 300 where the chrysanthemum is primarily in shades of dark blue and black.
