The Boston Women's Health Book Collective. Our Bodies, Ourselves. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2011. Paperback, illustrated wrappers.
PRESENTATION COPY FOR RUTH BADER GINSBURG, INSCRIBED: "To Justice Ginsburg, In appreciation for all you do! Judy Norsigian (for OBOS)."
Our Bodies, Ourselves was originally self-published by 12 women calling themselves the "Boston Women's Health Collective" as a 193 page pamphlet in 1970 (pages were originally issued loose to be stapled, or hole punched for a binder), and by 1973 when the first commercial edition was released the book had sold over 250,000 copies. Today, it has sold over 4 million copies and been named by the Library of Congress as one of the 88 Books That Shaped America.
Judy Norsigian was a founding member of the Boston Collective, as well as an author or editor of each of the nine editions the book went through until 2011. The cover marketing from the 2011 edition reads, "The bestselling classic, informing and inspiring women across generations." A wonderful association copy.
