RUTH BADER GINSBURG'S COPY OF THE 1969 RUTGERS LAW SCHOOL YEARBOOK.

TRENNER, KATHERYN, editor. Legacy 1969. Paterson, NJ: Progress Associates, 1969.
4to. Original polished cloth blindstamped and lettered in silver. Light shelfwear.

GINSBURG'S COPY OF THE YEARBOOK FEATURING A TWO-PAGE SPREAD ON HER. When Ginsburg joined the faculty of Rutgers Law School in 1963, she was the second tenured female law professor at the school. The first, Eva Hanna Hanks, joined the previous year, and like many of Ginsburg's female colleagues over the years (including Sandra Day O'Connor), Hanks welcomed Ginsburg to the faculty with great collegiality.

The 1969 yearbook features Ginsburg and Hanks in a double-page spread celebrating the 100th anniversary of the admittance of the first woman, Arabella M. Mansfield, to the practice of law in the United States.
