The full size steam launch 'Lady Elizabeth' is understood to have been of American origin, and was salvaged from the shore of Lake Windemere in the 20th century. After careful restoration, the small and attractive vessel was used for Char fishing in Lake Windermere, due to its silent movement and manoeuvrability. The full size vessel is now displayed at the Windermere Jetty Museum.
The maker of the present model, Keith Townsend, is a leading name in this highly specialised field of constructing scale models.
