A LATE LOUIS XVI GILT BRONZE MANTEL CLOCK
Date: Late 18th century
Movement: Circular plates, anchor escapement with thread suspended pendulum (lacking), striking the hour and half hour on bell by means of a crossed out count wheel, bearing the signature, Louis Berthoud à Paris
Dial: White enamel, minute ring enclosing roman chapters, blued Breguet hands
Case: Depicting Venus and Amor rising from clouds, on shaped rectangular base with frieze of putti playing musical instruments, raised on toupie feet
Size: 15in (38cm) high
