A Meissen ewer and basin, circa 1745

Both moulded with a basketwork ground, the helmet-shaped ewer applied with a scroll handle and moulded with shell-shaped and foliate base on a flared foot, the rims with gilt dash borders, reserved with gilt- and brown-edged quatrelobe panels painted with elegant figures in river landscape scenes, the basin: 29.8cm long; the ewer: 19.8cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral 25 to basin (tiny chips to ewer footrim) (2)
