A Meissen 'Cris de Paris' large figure of a pastry seller, circa 1755

Modelled by J.J. Kändler and Peter Reinicke, wearing a white headscarf, yellow bodice with a white apron embellished with indianische Blumen and a puce skirt with darker puce edging, holding a basket with baked goods, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and flowers, 19.8cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to the rear of the base, impressed numeral (some restoration to her basket and right hand)
