A rare Meissen 'Cris de Paris' figure of a Savoyarde woman with baby, circa 1755

Modelled by P. Reinicke, holding a staff and the baby in a wooden cradle, wearing a black headscarf, yellow-lined puce bodice, yellow apron and lavender skirt, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and a flower, 13.9cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear of base, impressed 26. (staff restuck, minor restoration to corner of cradle)
