A Meissen 'Cris de Paris' figure of an oyster seller, circa 1755

Modelled by Peter Reinicke, holding a basket with oysters on his left arm and carrying another basket on his back, a single oyster in his right hand and a small knife in his left, wearing a floral doublet, puce breeches and a yellow apron, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and flowers, 14.7cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to the rear of the base, (restoration to his left hand with knife and hat)
