A Meissen oval basket, circa 1740

Probably modelled by J.J. Kaendler, the exterior moulded with a basketwork pattern, applied with two basketwork handles with mask terminals emblematic of the Four Seasons, coloured in enamels and gilding, the interior painted in Kakiemon style with scattered flower sprigs and wheat sheafs, 27.4cm long, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral (small chips to masks)
