CHURCHILL (WINSTON)
Marlborough. His Life and Times. New Edition, Revised, 2 vol., AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed "To Angela with the affectionate good wishes of Winston S. Churchill for lifelong happiness, Jan. 24. 1935" on the half-title of volume one, plates, spotting, publisher's maroon cloth gilt, spines faded, some blushing to sides, t.e.g., 8vo, George G. Harrap, November 1934
Footnotes
The "Angela" of Churchill's warm inscription is almost certainly Angela Culme-Seymour who, in 1934, married Churchill's nephew John Spencer-Churchill, after which they for a short time lived at Chartwell. Their daughter was born on 21 January 1935, four days before the inscription in this volume, which is incidentally thirty years to the day before Churchill's death.
