Footnotes
Not recorded by Chet Ross, this magazine includes the text of lecture given by Nobu Shirase at the Natural Museum of Nature and Sciences in Tokyo on 10 June 1936. Having largely disappeared from public view after his return from the Pole, Shirase's achievements, and reputation, had been revived in 1933 when he was made President of newly founded Japanese Polar Research Institute.
