Charles Victor Thirion studied at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, under William Adolphe Bouguereau and Marc Gabriel Charles Gleyre. Thirion was best known for his idealised depictions of children and peasant girls, his choice of style and subject reflecting Bouguereau's influence and popularity. Thirion was a regular exhibitor at the Paris Salon from 1861. His 1875 work Flowers is in the collection of the Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport.
