A PAIR OF JADEITE SNUFF BOTTLES
19th century
Each of flattened ovoid form, one-side with a bright apple-green surface which possibly simulates a lush green landscape amidst snow, the reverse with a mutton fat white ground, rose quartz stoppers. Each 6.5cm (2 1/2in) high. (4).

This unusual pair of bottles belongs to a series of late 18th to early 19th century jadeite bottles of flattened rectangular form, which often have dark green flecks into the paler, almost white material, known as 'pine needles in snow'.
Compare with a related jadeite snuff bottle, 1770-1850, which was sold at Christie's New York, 15 September 2011, lot 1190.
十八世紀晚期至十九世紀早期可見此類壺身扁平、翠綠浮於白地或乳白色地之上的鼻煙壺，被形像地稱為「雪中松」。見一例1770-1850年翠玉鼻煙壺，售於紐約佳士得，2011年9月15日，拍品編號1190。
