The shape and decoration of the present lot were inspired by earlier prototypes dating to the Ming dynasty. See a Longquan celadon-glazed incense burner, 16th century, in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, decorated with interlacing floral designs, illustrated in Green. Longquan Celadon of the Ming Dynasty, Taipei, 2009, pp.222-223, no.121.
